Fashion & Beauty

Now that Halloween is over, and the decorations are put away, people are getting in the holiday spirit! Personally, I much prefer wearing a chic outfit rather than a costume and while they are both a lot of fun, they’re definitely very different. My social calendar is quickly filling up with holiday parties: there’s the one at my workplace, another at my spouse’s; parties with our friends, our social club, and family… the list is never-ending. My favourite parties are those spent with family and friends, celebrating the holiday season with tunes by Michael Bublé.

What thrills me most is finding THE perfect outfit. The one you’re proud to be seen in. The one that everyone will envy… The dress code obviously won’t be the same for every party. The way I see it, Christmas-time happens but once a year, so I like to go all out. My brother-in-law mocks my traditional pics taken in front of the Christmas tree but hey, my outfit is worthy of at least one pic! I’ll always remember the time when my 5 year old goddaughter gave me a look of incredulity and asked me why I was all dressed up.

If you’re anything like me, you probably aim high and jump on every opportunity to slip into a gown and heels. With that in mind, here are my top 10 party looks for the holiday season.

Jumpsuits, be they in satin or velour, are once again very much on trend for the holiday season. Whichever you choose, you’ll be the Queen of the party.

If you prefer to wear something a little more discreet, or if your Christmas parties are as tame as your nephew’s baptism, here are a few looks that might appeal to you. On the plus side, you’ll be able to wear these outfits long after the holiday season is over. Think of them as an investment instead of an expense! Opting for sober colours makes the outfits very wearable well into January.

If you find the holiday season expensive, why not borrow a cocktail dress from a girlfriend who wears the same size as you! Alternatively, secondhand shops can be great places to find seductive garments. Yet another option is to rent an outfit from such companies as Chic Marie. Party dresses at bargain prices do exist!

The holiday season truly is the most wonderful time of the year!
