The famous February 14th. The day when florists make as much money in one day as they do the rest of the year, when chocolate is flying off the shelves, and guys feel the ‘pressure’ of making this day extra special. A candlelit dinner or a good restaurant? A romantic movie at home or on the big screen? The possibilities are endless. Some will be dazzled by their spouse while others will be disappointed and annoyed.
Today’s article isn’t about any of that. It’s about single women; some of whom might be feeling alone and discouraged and without any expectations. The funny thing about life is that some of the best times happen when we don’t have preconceived expectations.
This year, let’s do things a little differently. This year, single ladies will rock Valentine’s Day!
Celebrate with close friends
The way I see it, Valentine’s Day is about celebrating love. It’s not about your relationship status. Love exists within families and with friends. My most memorable Valentine evenings were those when I shouted SHOOOOTERRR (possibly more than once)! It’s not about drinking yourself into a stupor, it’s about having fun with your girlfriends.
Spend time with your friends. Enjoy dinner with a glass or two of wine. Top it off with a chocolate fondue. Nothing beats enjoying a good meal in the company of good friends.
Celebrate with family
Are you the only single woman in your circle of friends? Why not take the opportunity to spend time with your family? They’ve been there for you since Day 1. They are the best qualified people to lift your spirits. No guy in the universe can hold a candle to your Mom… and her cooking!
Spoil yourself a little
This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Wednesday which might make getting together with friends and family a little difficult. If you find yourself alone on this day, why not make the most of it? Buy your favourite ice-cream and grab a spoon. Take a bubble bath. Wrap yourself up in your favourite blanket and watch your favourite movie.
Being single doesn’t mean being unhappy, ya know? What really matters is taking time to take care of yourself. Do what you want to do. Make the most of this day and spoil yourself a little.
