This week I was invited to view a sneak peak of Jacqueline Piron’s collection. Jacqueline is a Canadian designer who is making her debut in the fashion industry. The event was located at Holt Renfrew, Downtown Toronto. Making my way there I was greeted and directed to the personal shopping suites; let’s say my whole experience felt pretty glamorous. Plus, to my surprise not only did I have the chance to view Jacqueline Piron’s collection I also had the chance to meet her in person. I rarely had this feeling in my life but when speaking to Jacqueline it felt like having a conversation with myself. Fashion is very personal and finding someone with the same vision is practically impossible, it’s like finding a needle in a hay stack and I found it. Jacqueline created a handcrafted luxury shirt line; pretty genius I must say because while being comfortable you can still feel fancy. Today I wanted to share with you ladies everything I loved about this collection.
Experiencing the artist talking about their art is always eye opening and makes us understand the design itself, that’s why I really enjoyed the personal aspect of discussing every piece of clothing Jacqueline has created (Oh yah and do not argue with me fashion is art.HAHA!). Viewing the collection with the artist is a very different experience than simply seeing the pieces of clothing on the mannequin or a rack. Every detail was carefully explained to me. For every designer their clothing is their canvas and it was an awesome experience to have some one-on-one time with Miss Piron to understand her idea behind every design.
Jacqueline explained to me that the reason she started designing was because she could never quite find what she wanted when shopping. Often when buying expensive designer clothes, we don’t buy for the quality but for the name. Well she concentrates on making quality designer clothing. Clothes that will be durable after not only one wash but many of them.
Everything in her collection is thought out and genius. Most of her garments are reversible, the neck line could also be your back statement. I know, AMAZING. She uses a lot of Swarovski embellishments which is gorgeous but sometimes delicate; that is why on one of her statement pieces she made it possible to take the jewellery off when putting it in the wash. The jewellery parts of the shirt are detachable shoulder pads which are held with snaps. This screams PRACTICAL. Her collection is also made for all body types. Sometimes designer clothing is only made to look nice on a size two, but not these designer garments. They are thought out to benefit and to fit any type of figure.
So last but not least, my favourite part of this collection. If you’ve been reading my articles for a while you know how much I love leather. Well that was a case of love at first sight in Miss Piron’s collection. Her spring collection contains numerous leather vests that can be worn with any of the shirts from her collection. There is this specific one that caught my eye; a fringe vest, it looked fabulous. I also loved these leather bow-ties that she made that are almost worn as a necklace but look like they are part of your garment. All the leather pieces are SHOW STOPPERS.
Overall, not only did I have the chance to discover a new Canadian fashion collection, but I also had the chance to meet an amazing designer. Check out the Jacqueline Piron collection at the Holt Renfrew, Downtown Toronto.
