There’s a time in everyone’s life when we need to make a life choice. On the other hand, we’re constantly being told that we should live in the NOW.
There was a time not so long ago when the work I did was completely unfulfilling and yet I did it for eight years. I felt alive two days out of every seven, living from pay to pay, doing a job that offered both flexibility and a good income, but I didn’t like it. Nowadays, everything seems to revolve around money. Doing a job that pays well so that we can buy a Beverly Hills style mansion, drive a luxury car, travel worldwide like the popular Instagram crowd, buy designer clothing, and forever compete for the title of Best Dressed with our Gucci this and Gucci that.

Alright, it might seem like I’m exaggerating, but it really isn’t all that far-fetched. Women in their twenties must overcome a multitude of barriers to attain her goals.
I love life. I like doing all kinds of things. I’m ambitious and I have dreams but I don’t have the necessary financial resources. There was a time, not so long ago, when I also lacked the self-confidence to pursue the career I wanted.
Last year, I spent some time in quiet introspection, reading self-help books, and seeking the answer to who I truly wanted to be in “both body and soul”. One day I woke up and asked myself “Cyn, it’s time to move ahead. Stop analyzing… just DO IT. Besides, what do you have to lose?” The answer was “nothing”. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. And if I fell flat on my face, at least I’ll have tried and I’ll have learned from the experience. I’ll deal with whatever might happen, when it happens, and if it happens. I know what I want so now it’s time to go for it! And that’s exactly what I did. I took a leap of faith and in the end, I found work in the field for which I had studied all those years ago. The world of radio and television broadcasting.

Life has a way of pushing us in a certain direction and making everything seem so simple in the beginning. Kind of like beginner’s luck. It’s nice when it happens. Perhaps everything does happen for a reason. I sent my CV to the M 103,5 FM radio station at noon on July 3rd. My interview was held one hour later and I was offered the job. That was the beginning of a career I love and feel passionate about. I had stepped out of my comfort zone, or rather, I should say that I had expanded my comfort zone and I’m glad I did.
So, how can you figure out what’s best for you in the chaotic society of 2017? You can’t. Heed your intuition. It will always be your best guide. If you believe that life is good, and you keep a positive outlook, then life will be good… but first, you need to BELIEVE IT.
