Fashion & Beauty

Did you make a list of your New Year’s resolutions? If yes, you probably have “spend less” or “save money” among them. But this is one of the things that are easier said than done, and it seems that we are constantly failing this task. This is especially difficult for all the fashionistas out there, as we are practically spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on items that we either don’t wear very often (you’ve also probably bought something and wore it 0 times) or don’t need at all. This article will try to teach you how to spend your money in a smart way in 2019 – so take notes!

1. Sell, trade, toss

One of the best ideas that you can always do is make a list of all the items that you own but do not wear. Not only will you be making some extra space for your other clothes, but you can also earn something from this. For example, you can always sell your clothes online as there are plenty of people who have no problem buying secondhand clothes that are well-kept. Simply take a photo of the item that you want to sell and put it up for auction on eBay or other platforms and apps. Another idea would be to trade the things you’re not wearing for something else – you will need to find a person who wants to do the same which can be hard, but at the end of the day, this is an excellent idea.

2. Shop online

How many times did you go to the mall to buy one item and returned home with at least 5 bags? This probably happened more often than not, and if you want to save your money from overspending it in malls and shops, you should always consider shopping online. Most stores offer the option of buying their stuff online, so all you have to do is find the best online clothing store and browse through the website. This way, you won’t be in a position to buy other things that you don’t need, which can be great if you want to save money. However, you might want to know your sizes as it would be quite a nuisance to return the item if you bought the wrong size.

3. Buy the classics

You don’t need expensive clothes in order to look fashionable – some of the most iconic looks were created by only wearing the classics. For example, if you own a couple of pairs of jeans and nice, minimalistic t-shirts, you have yourself a great combination. In the same manner, you can always opt for a little black dress if you want to look elegant. Bear in mind that you can own 20 tops, 10 pants, 5 shorts and 2 skirts and still have 340 possible outfits! This means that you need to buy items that you can easily match with other things that you own – concentrate on pastels, blacks and whites.

4. Find a good tailor

Having a good tailor is definitely something that you should do in 2019. It’s a great, easy and inexpensive way to have some of the best combinations, as each piece of clothing is custom-made. The tailor can also help you in refreshing some of the old clothes that you have but feel they’re too big or too baggy for you to wear now. Having tailored pants is also something that’s quite fashionable at the moment, so you will be killing two birds with one stone.

5. Sales and outlets

Another great idea would be to use the perks of sales and outlets. Some sales are great and you can save a lot of money on a piece of clothing that you want. Also, try to organize weekend trips to some of the biggest outlet centers if you want to go shopping. You might find that the prices there are not that much lower than in actual stores, but this can definitely pay off if you’re buying more things.

Yes, saving money and spending smart is perhaps easier said than done but if you play your cards right, you might successfully pass this task! Keep your eyes open for sales, try to get rid of everything that you don’t need, and shop online as often as you can.
