Decorating a space is perhaps exhilarating, yet it can often hurt your wallet! Indeed, when you're patient, you're able to browse and compare prices from one boutique to another, make smart choices (all thanks to my boyfriend who endlessly brings me back to earth whenever we shop at HomeSense!), not busting a budget isn't impossible to achieve. Since there are a lot of hidden costs associated to relocation, this could be practical in order to find great treasures at an affordable price!
Change your lampshade
If you're like me and you can't stand looking at your current old-fashioned table lamps… The solution? Simply change the lampshades! All lamps may not all offer that kind of alternative, but it's possible and this could totally change the outlook of your room without spending too much money on complete new lamps! Take it from me, go have a look at Ikea, you'll thank me later.
Change your handles
I have a friend of mine who gave a second life to her old furniture by sandblasting and painting her cabinets. The end result is pretty neat. If you don't have patience or aren't too manual, simply change the handles of your furniture. The choices of handles are infinite, you can find big or small ones (some that will have the same effect as a statement necklace, however, on your cabinet) of all shapes and sizes. This will give your furniture a whole new aspect, an unique and modern one, or completely eclectic according on your personal taste.
Paint a wall
If you wish to give a bit of a "oomph" to a space without redecorating the whole room… simply paint a wall! You need a gallon and you'll completely change the outlook of your space!
Put a bit of life and green
Go for it girl! Not only plants are great for the environment, the latter are great to look at! It is possible to find pots pretty much everywhere without breaking your piggy bank. Small tip, I found a yellow one for one of my cactuses… at the Dollar store!
Re-use old pieces
Go to your grandparents' and see what they have hidden. Many elements of our house come from my grand mother's basement! We found an old thermometer, an old coffee box in which we put cork stoppers, without forgetting to mention our old vintage style clock that is hung as a central piece in our living room. The best in all this? It didn't cost us a dime!
