Every year, when the weather finally warms up, I get these sudden urges to eat healthier, push harder during my workouts, and overall lead a more active lifestyle! But then again, it’s so hard to leave behind my cozy clothes and the comfort of my little cocoon of blankets… Oh, but it’s so nice outside! But a delightful book with a cup of tea sounds so right about now…you see my dilemma? I don’t think I’m the only one struggling when it comes to finding the proper motivation to workout. That’s why I’ve put together 5 tips and to get your motivation levels up and have an active summer!

1.Plan Ahead

Our energy and motivation levels are different throughout the day and it’s important to workout at a time that best suits your needs. Some people prefer to workout in the morning to get it out of the way. Others don’t have enough energy that early in the day and prefer exercising in the evening. So, figure out when is an appropriate time for you and plan your workouts accordingly. And what I mean by plan is write it down! You’re more likely to commit to it!

2.Get Some Cute Workout Clothes

Working out is about believing in your capacities and feeling good about yourself! Having good workout clothes that make you feel like a million bucks will definitely get you more excited about exercising! Activewear is trending like crazy right now, so why not invest in a few pieces that’ll look just as good inside as outside of the gym? I had the opportunity to see Winners’ current line of available activewear and they’re so pretty! I mean would you really say “no” to quality clothing, which sometimes comes from big brand names, at a discount? Yeah, me neither!

3.Find Your Type Of Workout

Everyone enjoys diverse types of activities and hobbies: the same goes for our workouts. Find one that gets you excited and makes you want to move! Is it yoga? Circuit training? Ballet? I for one love to switch it up occasionally and the best way to do so is to look for classes available at your local gym! Some of them are not that expensive and they’re super fun! When I met with the Winners team, I had the opportunity to do a dance workout with Simone De La Rue and had such a blast! I didn’t even realize how tired and out of breath I was until the end of the class!

4.Don’t Use a Scale

When I use to weight myself it wasn’t about how much stronger and confident I felt, how I pushed beyond my limits, or how toned my body was getting. It was all about that number on the scale and if it wasn’t dropping, I was miserable. When working out, you burn fat and gain muscle. And as you might already be aware, muscle is heavier than fat. So, you are bound to, at times, gain weight rather than loose it. Without the numbers, you can truly focus on your physical and mental health through this journey! If you feel the need to track your results, why not take progress pictures instead? You’ll really see your body transform!

5.Treat Yo Self

Whether it’s that new lipstick you’ve been dying to get your hands on or that Ben and Jerry’s ice cream that’s been calling your name all week, you should reward your efforts and accomplishments! Most importantly, don’t beat yourself up! If you ate that extra piece of your grandma’s delicious cake: It’s okay!

Good Luck on this journey to a healthier and happier you!
