Fashion & Beauty

I’ve been using Clinique skincare since the dawn of man. #slightexaggeration. That being said, I have tried products from numerous other brands as well; including, but not limited to Origins, Clarins, Marcelle, The Ordinary, Drunk Elephant, etc. My skin has always been hyper-sensitive. It was also very dry up until one year ago (when I turned 55). Now, I have combination skin… Oh, joy! Anyhow, here are my absolute favourite products by Clinique. I hope the list will be helpful to you.

Take The Day Off™ Cleansing Balm

This is an awesome makeup remover! You need only a tiny amount to do your entire face… including your eyes. Clinique’s balm won’t sting your eyeballs or leave a greasy film on your face. I definitely agree with the company’s claims: “Lightweight makeup remover quickly dissolves tenacious eye and face makeups, sunscreens. Transforms from a solid balm into a silky oil upon application. Cleans thoroughly, rinses off completely. Non-greasy. Non-drying. For all skin types.”

Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate

I can’t say enough good things about this product! Okay, I probably could buuut I’ll restrain myself. I use the concentrate in lieu of moisturizer during the hot and muggy  summer months. It keeps my skin well hydrated and doesn’t slide off my face. I wear it under a moisturizer during the freeze-your-butt-off months. Other than the 179% reference, I definitely agree with Clinique’s claims: “Supercharged water-gel hydrator instantly quenches dehydrated skin with a 179% moisture boost. Keeps skin hydrated for a full 24 hours. Helps maintain skin’s moisture balance. For all skin types.”

Moisture Surge™ Face Spray Thirsty Skin Relief

My newest love! This facial spray is kinda magical. It’s refreshing like a toner, hydrates better than a lot of moisturizers, smooths like a primer, and one-up’s the iconic MAC Prep & Prime Fix+. In this instance, I think Clinique’s claims are actually too modest! “Water your skin. Take along a refreshing face spray for showers of thirsty skin relief. Bursting with moisture and active aloe. But not a drop of oil. Rapidly replenishes skin’s moisture level, restoring balance. Softens and soothes in a flash. For all skin types.”

7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula

This is a wonderfully effective, yet gentle, facial exfoliator that will leave your skin feeling refreshed and looking luminous. I recommend applying the scrub to wet skin and very gently “massaging” it with wet hands for a few seconds. This is another instance in which I think Clinique is understating how wonderful their product truly is. In fact, all they claim is: “Dermatologist-developed exfoliating cream deflakes, refines. Helps minimize the appearance of fine lines. Clears the way for moisture. For all skin types.”

Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask

This mask is very effective for removing blackheads that are near the skin’s surface (only). It definitely absorbs oil so don’t apply it to any areas where you experience dryness and keep it away from both your lips and eyes. A very thin coat is all you’ll need. I recommend wetting your skin thoroughly to remove the mask without rubbing and tugging at your skin. Clinique claims: “Mattifying mask absorbs oil, impurities and environmental pollutants to help detoxify skin. Charcoal powder draws out deep-seated debris to purify pores, while mineral clays soak up excess oil. Skin feels fresh, smooth; pores look noticeably refined. Oil-free. For Dry Combination to Oily Skin Types.”

Have you tried any of these products by Clinique? If so, what do you think of them? Do you have other favourites to recommend?
