One of the “benefits” of writing fashion-related articles like this one is that they make me crave something new. Perhaps said articles are having the same impact on you. Anyhow, with Summer just around the corner, this seems like a good time to write about sundresses. I love how simple they make it to get dressed in the morning. Basically, one dress = one outfit. All that’s left to do, is to choose a pair of shoes, a handbag and jewelry. Badda bing badda boom! You’re done! Here are my top 10 favourite sundresses for Summer 2017. By the by, I’m heading out to Spain this Friday and this list is kinda sorta making me want to buy ALL of these dresses.
Off-the-shoulders pastel florals
I know I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating, off-the-shoulders tops and dresses are the hot Look this Summer. I really like this dress with its simple floral print. I can picture myself wearing it for dinner at a restaurant when I’m in a romantic mood. Take a look at THIS dress from Le Château.
Slip dresses are every bit as stylish as the off-the-shoulders style. I particularly like the delicate straps and clean lines of slip dresses. Accessorizing them is a cinch. I find THIS dress by Aritzia particularly sexy with its mesh detailing at the neckline.
Cinched waist dresses
White and blue fashion remains on-trend this season. I like this A-line dress with its figure-flattering waistline and modest retro-style neckline. It’s the type of dress you can wear for dinner with your in-laws! Take a look at THIS dress from Le Château.
Floral slip dresses
Here’s a dressier take on the classic slip dress. I especially like the summery floral print and clean lines of THIS dress from Dynamite.
The “Noirceure” dress by Vymoo
I recently spoke to you of Vymoo; a local eco-conscious company that uses organic fabric in its creations. I am a strong supporter of the company’s values. Vymoo has recently released an entire collection of black and white clothing. Véronique, the company’s founder, gifted me one item of my choice. I chose this super simple “Noirceure” T-shirt dress made of 50% organic cotton and 50% recycled polyester. In my opinion, the very simplicity of T-shirt dresses make them a wardrobe staple for the summertime. I like the elbow-length sleeves and appreciate the fact that the dress isn’t too short (it falls just above the knees). Available HERE.
Denim dresses are a definite must-have. We never seem to tire of wearing jeans three-quarters of the year. As for the rest of time, we supplement our love of jeans with denim dresses! Haha. I like this mid-length dress with its double-strap style. Its both simple and functional. I like the addition of the knotted belt. Available HERE by Gap.
Ruffles add a whimsical touch to a dress, create movement, and are so very pretty. I love this pastel blue dress (also offered in other colours)! Available HERE by Dynamite.
Take a look at THIS casual open-back dress I found on the Urban Outfitter website. Admittedly, if you don’t like to go braless, this might not be the dress for you! (Alright, you could wear a low-back strapless bra but, just between you and me, they aren’t the most reliable when it’s hot outside (if you know what I mean…)
White dresses with embroidery
Embroidered fabrics are super hot this year. I especially like white bohemian style dress with embroidery, which coincidentally, is exactly what THIS dress by Zara offers! It’s got it all: voluminous sleeves, tassels, and pom-pom trim along the hemline.
Similar to the previous style mentioned, I fell in love with THIS bohemian-inspired dress from Tristan. Lace and embroidery…it’s got it all!
