The stylish cape is a coat we always look forward to wearing once autumn arrives!
I’ve lost count of the number of capes I’ve bought over the last few years. Some were colourful, others were a monochromatic black, red or beige. Some were lighter and others were warmer. Capes are a stylish option to keep you warm in autumn weather. I like the feeling of lightness created by the movement of a cape as we walk. It’s at the same time chic, bohemian, and urban. It’s important that a cape be warm enough to wear in lieu of a coat and fitted enough to avoid slipping off your shoulders. It’s a good idea, generally speaking, to opt for a neutral colour that pairs well with most of our looks.
The look pictured in this article is perfect for the career women who wants an outfit that will turn heads. The cape is the focal point of the look, given the rather classic style of the black shoes and jeans. Since the cape doesn’t cover my neck, I’ve paired it with a black turtleneck sweater (who doesn’t own one?) and a chunky silver necklace. Lastly, I had fun choosing accessories to complete the look: an eye-catching hat with embroidered detailing and a tote-like handbag roomy enough to hold my laptop.
These classic styled shoes are the most comfortable pair I own. They’re from Geox: the material is breathable and the chunky heel makes it possible to walk long distances without making your feet suffer. When it comes to apparel, I’m always willing to pay more for quality footwear: I simply won’t tolerate footwear that hurts my feet (which happens a lot with high heel shoes!).
